An Entrepreneur with NC Roots
Entrepreneur and North Carolina native Coleman Team knows a thing or two about startups. The commercial real estate expert originally from Lexington, N.C. has started his share of businesses in the Triad. Today he leads Front Street Capital, a merger of legacy development ventures based in downtown Winston-Salem.
“The Triad has a full continuum of space and support for entrepreneurs,” Coleman said. “We have a significant, rich history of people who started major Fortune 500 companies, and now we’re seeing a rebirth of innovation.”
Coleman wasn’t always set on Winston-Salem, and initially eyed Dallas, New York or the West Coast after graduating from Wake Forest University. There’s no question he’s fully vested in the Triad now, with major projects across Greensboro and High Point in addition to Winston-Salem.
“We’re making roots here and doing so intentionally,” he said. “People are taking our community development a bit more personally. How can we push the limits of where Winston-Salem can go?”
Coleman leads by example. He’s active in many local organizations and on boards of directors, including the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce, Wake Forest University School of Business and the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership.
Downtime for Coleman means family and food trucks, mostly in a downtown environment that’s family-friendly for his two kids. He’s also looking forward to the $35-million children’s museum that’s being completed. Expect to also find Coleman at local sporting events, Pilot Mountain State Park and the airport, where “flights to tons of U.S. cities are really affordable.”
Winston-Salem is an unbelievable place to raise a family. Our out-of-town friends visit and are amazed at how accessible, welcoming and vibrant the family atmosphere is here.
